We are A family of revivalists

Church of God of Exeter is a community of people who are experiencing that the best way to live is with Jesus, in community, and on mission. From the heart of Central California, we are becoming God's family for the sake of revival. Through the thick and thin, we are a family of revivalists. In the places we are planted, we make disciples who make disciples. Until Jesus returns in glory, we are going to Exeter, Tulare County, the Central Valley, and the Ends of the Earth.

Our Vision

Becoming God's Family

for the sake of

REVIVAL

Our Values

WITH JESUS

IN COMMUNITY

ON MISSION

WHO ARE WE?

A FAMILY OF REVIVALISTS

Our three core values lead us to three identities that frame how we see ourselves.

With Jesus, we are EMPOWERED REVIVALISTS
In community, we are a FAMILY OF FAMILIES
On mission, we are EVERYDAY MISSIONARIES

While our identity as a church is defined by God, it is also shaped by many other factors. We love unity, holiness, and the presence of the Spirit of God because these are key distinctives of our denominational roots- the movement of Church of God out of Anderson, Indiana. We love revival, Exeter, and investing in leaders because, as a local entity, Church of God of Exeter has fought for these things for over 100 years. We value discipleship, mission, and movements because we see these as essential for the Church to flourish in our day and age. We value gathering in small and big spaces, but we also value scattering locally and beyond because we see the New Testament church moving that way. All of that weaves together to make us who we uniquely are.

What are we building together?

DISCIPLES WHO MAKE DISCIPLES (Mt 28:18-20)

If we make a disciple we unlock the potential for the dreams and desires that God has planted into that person to be released into the world (Eph 2:10) If we steward the disciples God has empowered us to make we will release missionaries, farmers, parents, teachers, journalists, pastors, church planters, artists, and civil servants to the world. When we release these everyday missionaries, we will see mission outposts, businesses, homes, schools, magazines, the arts, cities, and churches planted and renewed.
We want to see:
EVERYONE BECOME A DISCIPLE.
We want to see:
EVERY DISCIPLE BECOME A DISCIPLER.
We want to see:
EVERY DISCIPLER A PLANTER.

It all starts and continues with making disciples.

Where are we going?

EXETER, TULARE COUNTY, THE CENTRAL VALLEY, & THE ENDS OF THE EARTH (Acts 1:8)

Because we live in Exeter we see this community as our primary mission field. We want to be a blessing to the city. We want to call the city back to God. We want to partner with Kingdom-minded individuals and groups to see Exeter flourish and excel in every good way. This will look like families moving into a particular neighborhood for mission, or a business being established downtown for the sake of the Kingdom. It will look like teachers going into the school district with a Kingdom vision for the students, or missional communities going into new regions in town that need a greater Kingdom impact. We are going as the children of God. We are going into the city. We are going for the sake of revival in Exeter.

Exeter, however, is not the end of our target, but the beginning. Exeter is simply a launching pad for a movement of God's family to the ends of the Earth. Because of this...

...we are going to La Mision and Camalu in Mexico to partner with the work of Daniel and Heidi Elizarraraz of Open Arms.
...we are going to La Concepcion in Honduras to partner with the work of Pastor Fredy and Alexandra Martinez of Heart to Honduras.
...we are going to China, Sudan, South Carolina, and any place people from our family are responding to the call of the Father.

Our Beliefs

God can be known, and that is the whole reason we gather to worship Him and go out to tell people about him. One thing we must be careful to do, is to know God as He defines himself, not as we imagine He should be.

We believe some things must be held as essential to understanding and being in relationship with God.

We Believe in one God–Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Matthew 3:16–17; John 14:9–10

We Believe God is the creator of man and all things.

Genesis 1:1; Acts 17:24–28

We Believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son and Savior of the world.

John 3:16; Matthew 1:18; John 20:24–31

We Believe the Holy Spirit dwells within every Christian.

John 16:5–15

We Believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for all matters of faith.

Romans 15:4; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16

We Believe that man, created by God, willfully sinned, and as a result, is lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ.

Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:7

We Believe salvation (the forgiveness of sins) comes by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ (His death on the cross).

Matthew 26:28; Romans 5:8–11; Ephesians 2:8–9

We Believe the Bible teaches that the pattern to follow to receive Jesus as Savior is to believe in Christ as God's Son and Savior of the world, to repent of personal sin, to confess Christ as Lord, and to be immersed in baptism.

Luke 24:45–47; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:1–7; 2 Peter 3:9

We Believe the church is the body and bride of Christ, founded on the day of Pentecost, consisting of all Christians everywhere.

Matthew 16:13–18; Acts 2:14–47

We Believe death seals the eternal destiny of each person. The saved will inherit eternal life; the unsaved, eternal separation from God.

Romans 8:10–11; Daniel 12:2; John 6:47

WHo Is Jesus?

It's all about Jesus. This is not surprising, since He’s the most famous person in all of human history. More songs have been sung to Him, artwork created of Him, and books written about Him than anyone who’s ever lived. Even our calendar is based off His life, dividing time before and after Him.

Naturally, someone this important will have fans and foes.

And a lot of people have an idea of who Jesus is.

They may get this idea from TV or movies, maybe from past church experience and Sunday School felt boards, from history books, or maybe from just hearsay.

But just because we have ideas of who Jesus is doesn’t mean we actually know Jesus.

Jesus said He was God. Jesus said He came from Heaven. Jesus was sinless. Jesus forgave sin. Jesus is the only way to Heaven. Jesus accepted worship as God. Jesus performed miracles including His resurrection. Jesus died for you. Jesus loves you.
